Treating Electrical Shock Victims
By Terry Bartelt, Pat Jensen
Explore the step-by-step procedures to rescue and care for electrical shock victims.
Electrical Shocks
In this learning activity, we’ll explore the impact of electric shock on the human body.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (Screencast)
By Terry Bartelt
In this animated activity, learners examine how ground fault circuit interrupters work and why they are an important safety feature.
Selecting a Proper Single Phase Transformer
By Gary Lindell, Terry Bartelt
Students follow the steps that are required to select a transformer with the proper ratings. Voltage, frequency, current, and KVA are considered.
The Broadband Telco Services Subscriber Loop
By dan.schullo
Walk through the subscriber loop and learn how the signal travels from the central office to the subscriber.
Electrical Grounding
In this learning module, you'll explore what electrical grounding is, how it works, and some real-world applications.
The 7493 IC Binary Counter (Screencast)
In this screencast, learners examine the construction of a 7493 IC as mod-2 and mod-8 up-counters. They view how this binary counter can be modified to operate at different modulus counts.
Three-Phase Delta Transformer Calculations
By James Bourassa
Using a memory shortcut for calculations, the learner determines line and phase values of current in a three-phase AC configuration. Practice problems complete the activity.
Three Phase Wye Transformer Calculations
In this interactive object, learners follow steps to find phase voltages in a partial three-phase power distribution circuit.
Electrical PPE Mini Sim
By Excelsior College
This activity is a simulation that allows the learner to practice personal protective equipment tasks.
Using Blueprints to Troubleshoot a Defective Water Pump
In this simulation activity, an electrician troubleshoots a defective water pump that will not start. To find the problem, the learner selects the appropriate blueprints that must be referred to while performing the troubleshooting steps. Then safety protocols will be followed, such as making lockout-tag out installations and donning PPE items before taking measurements with a multimeter to locate the faulty component.
Motor and Pump Alignment
In this simulation activity, procedures are performed to properly align the shaft of an electric motor that replaced a defective motor, with the shaft coupling of a pump to which it is attached.
Troubleshooting an Unstable Press Motor
In this simulation activity, an electrician will troubleshoot an AC motor that quit running and cannot be restarted. Before accessing blueprints and then using a multimeter to find the fault, the learner will follow safety protocols by following lock-out tag-out procedures and then suit up with appropriate (PPE) personal protection equipment.
